1. Open the door so that you can operate both the inside and outside door handles at the same time. Find the two screws on the inside door handle cover plate, which are the screws that hold the inside and outside door handles together.
2. Remove the two screws counterclockwise with a Phillips head screwdriver, pull the inside door handle away from the door and pull the outside door handle away from the door. Remove the two screws that secure the latch plate to the outside edge of the door with a Phillips head screwdriver. Out of the door, pull out the latch plate assembly. Attach the two fixed strike plates to the door frame with a Phillips screwdriver counterclockwise, and pull the strike plate off the door frame.
3. Insert the new latch plate assembly through the edge of the hole on the door, the curved part of the latch bolt should point to the outside of the door. Secure the latch plate to the door with the wood screws that come with the door handle kit.
4. Insert the outside door handle into the door from the outside. There are usually two sleeves that fit inside the latch hole of the cylinder. Press the door handle until the cover plate is tight against the door.
5. Insert the inside door handle into the door from the inside of the door. Insert two fixing screws into the holes on the cover plate, turn the screws clockwise to thread them into the outer door pull glove, and tighten the screws with a cross screwdriver.
6. Place the impact plate on the door frame on the curved side of the inner side of the door frame and fix it with the screws included with the kit.
